The Sundet Chair's area of specialization within the field of New Testament and early Christian studies is open, though an ability to contribute to our broad curriculum in ancient Mediterranean studies is expected. The Sundet Chair plays a key role in the department's thriving M.A. program in Religions in Antiquity, as well as by supporting the University's recently introduced interdepartmental Program in Religious Studies.
Responsibilities include the active pursuit of a program of research and publication, graduate and undergraduate advising and teaching, including one or more courses on the New Testament, and service to the department and university. The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies in the College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Minnesota, occasionally needs assistance with teaching different courses within the department. These positions will usually be temporary, part-time, semester-long appointments, but occasionally appointments are made at 100% time for an entire academic year. Appointments may be renwable based on need, funding, and performance. The work will include teaching the course(s), assisting and advising students, holding office hours, and participating in relevant program and/or department meetings.
