Masters Program

Classics

Evenly balanced between the study of Greek and Latin language and literature.

M.A. Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of Greek and Latin sufficient to allow you to begin graduate reading courses in one language, with at least intermediate ability in the other
  • Evidence of ability and experience in the proposed area of concentration

Greek

Focuses on Greek language and literature, with a strong emphasis on some additional academic field or topic of your choice and at least two graduate courses in another language.

Latin

Focuses on Latin language and literature, with a strong emphasis on some additional academic field or topic of your choice and at least two graduate courses in another language.

  • Evidence of ability and experience in the proposed area of concentration

Ancient and Medieval Art and Archaeology

The CNES program in Ancient and Medieval Art and Archaeology (M.A. or Ph.D.) is not accepting applications for the foreseeable future.

Students interested in ancient art and archaeology, especially of the late antique period, may wish to consider Minnesota's Art History program; Professor Matthew Canepa works in late antique imperial Roman and Persian studies and works with faculty in CNES.
