CNES language lnstructors - The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies in the College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Minnesota, occasionally needs assistance with teaching different courses within the department. Most commonly the need is in beginning and/or intermediate language courses in: Hebrew, Latin, and/or Greek. As the need arises for Latin and Greek instructors, the department may select candidates from the pool of qualified applicants who have previously submitted the appropriate application materials to be considered for openings. These positions will usually be temporary, part-time, semester-long appointments, but occasionally appointments are made at 100% time for an entire academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. The work will include teaching the course(s), assisting and advising the students, holding office hours, and participating in relevant program and department meetings.
Teaching
- Required: MA in an appropriate field, with training in the needed area of the department's curriculum. Some teaching experience required. Candidates with Masters would be appointed as Teaching Specialists.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: PhD in appropriate field.
Teaching experience at the college level is desired.
Additional experience specific to the needs and level of a course may be requested at a later time.
Candidates with Ph.D.s would be appointed as Lecturers. Visiting faculty titles will match the rank of their home institution.
Salary
Salary is per course and commensurate with level of qualifications and responsibilities.
